With the holiday shopping season on the horizon, Wabaunsee County Economic Development Council and Wabaunsee County Extension are teaming up to encourage a local approach to shopping.

Buying Local is an initiative to increase revenue for the local economy while boosting sales at hometown merchants. Residents are encouraged to purchase their gifts this year through these businesses.

Wabaunsee County is home to a variety of merchants anticipating holiday shoppers. The column “Bluestem Breezes” will highlight many of Wabaunsee County’s new and established shops available. Buying Local will be the column’s main focus through Christmas.

A list of local businesses is available through Wabaunsee County Economic Development’s Business Directory. Visit www.wabaunsee.com or the Economic Development Office at Third and Missouri in Alma to obtain the directory.
