the traditional farming and ranching community it has been for over one
hundred years. The small town atmosphere and freedom from crime
makes it a wonderful place for families or retirees. The

Alta Vista has a Spanish meaning of “high view”. As you look across the rolling hills of Flint Hills tall grass prairie your breath will be taken away! Before being settled as Alta Vista this area was a German settlement called Templin.
